High-Speed Collision Leaves Multiple Injured in Mageva Village Accident on R529

Mageva Village, Limpopo – Residents of Mageva are still shaken following a devastating road accident that occurred on the R529 route on Wednesday morning, resulting in multiple injuries and leaving several victims in need of urgent medical attention.

According to early reports, a grey vehicle was traveling at an extremely high speed before the driver allegedly lost control of the car. The vehicle veered off the road and crashed, causing chaos and fear among those nearby.

The Impact: What Happened on the R529?

The accident took place near a busy stretch of the R529 road, known for its tight turns and high traffic during early morning hours. Eyewitnesses say the vehicle was moving erratically moments before the crash.

“I saw the car coming very fast — too fast,” said Nomsa Baloyi, a local vendor who witnessed the crash. “It looked like the driver was trying to overtake, but then the car started swerving and went off the road. People started screaming.”

The vehicle is said to have struck a roadside barrier before overturning and finally coming to rest in a ditch near a small pedestrian path. Several bystanders who were close to the impact site were also injured by flying debris and the force of the impact.

Emergency Response & Medical Assistance

Emergency medical personnel arrived swiftly on the scene after being alerted by nearby residents. Paramedics from the Limpopo EMS, assisted by local community members, worked together to stabilize victims and transport them to nearby medical facilities.

At least six individuals were confirmed injured, including the driver and passengers of the grey vehicle. Two pedestrians were also hurt, reportedly while attempting to run from the path of the incoming car.

All victims were taken to Nkhensani Hospital in Giyani for treatment. According to health officials, two victims are in critical condition, while others sustained moderate to serious injuries.

Councillor Nhlanhla Mthombeni said, “We cannot allow the R529 to continue being a danger zone. We are calling for immediate traffic calming measures, visible patrols, and the fixing of road signage.”
