UPDATE: Identity of Woman Found Murdered at Dan Extension Confirmed

Dan Village, Limpopo – Police have confirmed the identity of the woman who was found brutally murdered outside a liquor store in Dan Extension earlier this week.

Authorities have identified the victim as a 33-year-old resident of the area. Her body was discovered by a passerby in the early hours of the morning, lying motionless near the entrance of the store. She had sustained multiple stab wounds, with a fatal injury to her neck.

According to police reports, officers were immediately dispatched to the scene following an emergency call. Upon arrival, they were directed by a witness to the lifeless body. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were summoned, and sadly, the woman was declared dead on the scene.

The motive behind the killing is still unknown, and no arrests have been made at this stage. Police believe the attack may have occurred during the late-night hours, but are continuing to gather evidence and review any available surveillance footage from nearby buildings.

Appeal for Information

As the investigation progresses, police are calling on members of the community to assist in bringing the perpetrator to justice. Warrant Officer Ronny Baloyi, who is leading the case, urged anyone with knowledge of the incident or who may have seen suspicious activity in the area to come forward.

“We are appealing to residents of Dan Extension and the surrounding areas to assist us in this investigation. Even the smallest detail could help us piece together what happened and who is responsible,” said Baloyi.

Anyone with information that could aid the investigation is urged to contact Warrant Officer Ronny Baloyi directly at 082 319 9699.

Gender-Based Violence Concerns

The murder has sparked outrage among locals, who say gender-based violence continues to plague communities across the province. Activists and residents have called on police to ensure swift action and justice for the victim.

“This is heartbreaking. Women in our communities are not safe. We demand answers and we want justice,” said one resident who gathered with others at the scene the following day.

Investigation Ongoing

Police say they are treating the case with urgency and will release further details as they become available. For now, they are focusing on forensic evidence and interviewing potential witnesses who may have been in the vicinity on the night of the incident.

This is a developing story.
